Rajiv...I wanna be like U

hi there....
I would like to share this small bit of madness with you all....
Right from the day I started understanding how the world around me operates(started!!!!), all I could see was Rajiv Gandhi.....His stature appealed to me so much that I became an ardent fan of his without a second thought!! A short face-off with the man further fuelled my desire to emulate him... I started to gather facts about him . whatever I could get my hands on was the most precious little bit of stuff I ever possessed. The day he was killed came as a shocker to me. I decided to contribute to the job that he did in a small, little way of mine. I decided that day that I will be the Prime Minister of India some day!!! Quite childish and sinister to those hungry chair-worshippers!!! Nevermind, I am back to my senses, now that I am on the verge of entering a new phase of life. Life after college!! I had this poem stuck somewhere between my past and my present... Here it is...

With a charm of his own,
and a dream that we know,
was he born on
a day in forty-four!

A life at the fore,
truthful to the core,
he shone with confidence,
and brimmed with wisdom.

A day when he had to
lay down father to sleep,
he decided to be a good man.
A promise, he had to keep.

Went to the ‘varsity,
with a new look to life.
He was having fun,
but all wasn’t yet done…

Things went astray,
when ‘Nana’ passed away!
One mile-stone was long gone,
another too, passed by!!!

With a thought for mother,
and hope for a day better,
he left the shores again,
to continue life alone…

Then he met the one,
the one who would go along,
this was the moment, he knew,
for which he had waited so long!

Things started happening,
Flowers started to bloom.
Love was all around,
for pain, there was no room!

Then he learnt to fly,
a dream long passed by…
He was a lucky man,
to find his passion nearby!!!

Such was his love for air,
that he left his past to lie.
With two of his loved ones around,
he knew every thing would be fine!!!

Then came, shock-three!!
He’d lost his brother, Sanjay.
The moment was to stand tall,
not to step down and cry!

He ditched the life of his dreams,
and plunged himself into politics.
Not as bad was it, he thought,
as bad he thought, it seemed!

To wipe every tear,
from an every eye,
was a pledge, a commitment,
he would long stand by.

And then mother was gone,
He was left all alone,
To carry forward the torch,
To finish the job undone!

India called for a change.
He was right there again.
Grabbing his chance with both hands,
at 40, he was the youngest PM!

His vision was to make
India strong and audible.
His dream was to make India,
a paradise for poor people.

But every rose in this world,
Does come with a thorn.
A young lass with a bomb,
Blew herself and he was gone!
Another lamp had blown out,
Another son had died.
Again a legend was born,
Again India cried.

Such was the legacy of a man,
who dreamed of India alive,
who wanted us to be the best.
Proudly can I say, “Long live Rajiv!”
